The Hilliard Free Lunch Summer Camp for Kids provides a free nutritious breakfast and lunch in the summer to children ages K – 18 who are eligible to receive a free lunch during the school year in the Hilliard City School District. Camps offer indoor and outdoor recreation, games, art special guests, and reading support.
We mobilize both adult and teen volunteers to serve children by building relationships through play, food, and an open heart.
The rewards are endless for the children, volunteers, and ultimately the community who benefits from children who feel cared for and understood.
Why is This Program so Critical?
- Nutritious food addresses food insecurity when school is not in session for families whose children are eligible to receive a free or reduced lunch while at school.
- Free Lunches can reduce a family’s food expenses by $300 per month (No Kid Hungry Campaign).
- Recreation and nutritious food combats childhood obesity and improves overall health.
Reading and special guests address summer learning loss and enriches lives. Education is the key to combating poverty.
- Provides both adult and teen opportunities to serve children by allowing people to share their time, talents and treasures, to God’s glory.
